The
Upper Arlington Mens lacrosse team will be well
represented when Team Ohio embarks on a decade-long
tradition of playing in the 35-year old Vail Shootout
July 27-30th.
UA
Head Coach Ted Wolford will be on the
three-man coaching staff along with central Ohio
lacrosse fixture Chris Gallagher and Hilliard
Davidson Head Coach Anthony Kelly, a former face-off
specialist at Ohio State, who currently plays
for the L-A Riptide of Major League Lacrosse.
Suiting
up for the 24-member state-wide team are three
Golden Bears from the class of 2007; attackman
Grant Devilbiss, defenseman Daniel Gaines
and goalie Judson Hall.
"This
tournament gives seniors a chance to play at a
higher level in terms of ability and altitude,"
said Wolford. Team Ohio will play games in the
shadow of the Rockies against all-star squads
from all over the
country including entries from Baltimore, Chicago,
Connecticut, Colorado, California, Texas and the
Pacific Northwest. Team Ohio is part of a 16-team
high school bracket.
"To
see the mountains all around you, the stars at
night, it's such a beautiful place in the summer,
too," added Wolford. "And our guys will
get a chance to go white-water rafting and we'll
drive up in the mountains and get a sense of the
place."
The
team will have a familiar central Ohio component
with Jordan Bowdy and Michael Kerpsack of Dublin
Coffman, Steve Simonetti and Tyler Mordecai of
Dublin Jerome, Brian Zwick and Greg Schneider
of Dublin
Scioto and John Brelus of Worthington Kilbourne.
