April 17, 2008 - UA WINS, "HUGE" WEEKEND AHEAD

The Upper Arlington Golden Bear lacrosse team ran its record to 5-0 with a 15-4 win over Ohio Capital Conference rival Dublin Coffman Wednesday night at Marv Moorehead Stadium. The game was taped delayed for air on Columbus Sports Network. Consult your local listings.

The Bears led 7-0 after a quarter, 12-1 at halftime and cruised to the win which also counts in the Midwest regional standings. UA is the defending 'A' bracket champion of the Midwest tournament, beating homestanding Brother Rice and Western Reserve Academy en route to the 2007 title played in Detroit.

"Our guys came out pretty focused as we talked about this being a league game," said UA Head Coach Ted Wolford. "It starts at the midfield with some guys getting faceoffs and our attackman were working. We got some ground balls and we did a lot of different things that will help us throughout the course of the season."

Senior attackman Eric Hanover led the Bears with five goals UA had seven different players score and the veteran coach loves that versatility. "We hope teams will find out that if you plug one hole, we'll erupt somewhere else."

The Bears defense was smothering as the winners used senior captain Alex Benedick, junior Teddy Dugger and sophomore Daniel Kloos in goal.
