May 29, 2008 - UA BEATS COFFMAN TO OPEN STATE'S

The Upper Arlington Mens Lacrosse team opened defense of their four straight state titles with a 14-7 win over Dublin Coffman Wednesday night at Marv Moorehead Stadium. The Bears are now 16-3 and advance to the regional final of the Ohio High School Lacrosse Association tournament with the win and will meet long-time rival Thomas Worthington Saturday at home in the next round.

The Bears were led on offense by captain Adam Donahue and senior attackman Eric Hanover who scored three goals apiece in the win over the Shamrocks. Senior captain Alex Benedick had six saves in goal before giving way to junior Teddy Dugger who had three saves and sophomore Daniel Kloos who had four. UA led 7-3 at halftime.

The top-seeded Bears had received a first-round bye in the tournament and were playing their first game since the
Midwest tournament in Detroit May 18th.
