2, 2008 - GOLDEN BEARS OUST THOMAS AGAIN
Upper Arlington and Thomas Worthington renewed the
oldest rivalry in Ohio high school lacrosse in the state
quarterfinals with the Bears emerging with a 10-7 comeback
win Wednesday May 21st at Marv Moorehead Stadium.
"It really was one of those old school games between
us," said Wolford. "It was a battle, a physical,
hard-fought game with end to end action like so many
of our games with them."
The Bears scored first thanks to a Keith Olson win on
the faceoff and a dish to junior attackman Alex Drake
who bounced home the game's first goal. The Cardinals
rallied for a 2-1 lead but couldn't maintain the edge
as the Bears bounced back to lead 4-3 at halftime.
"It was a big game. Thomas was ready and they were
fully aware we had knocked them out the year before,"
added Wolford. "When we scheduled them in September
both schools knew they had to beat the other to advance
in the tournament because we are in the same region.
That made all the difference in the world."
